To surf on your laptop with a USB modem, a Wi-Fi router or a data card you must carry out some updates.
Step 1
You have bought a USB modem or a data card because your laptop has no built-in 3G modem (see
what do you need to surf on your laptop?). The data SIM card that you have received must be inserted in the USB modem or in the data card. When that is done:
- Insert the Vodafone Mobile Broadband USB modem in your computer: the installation begins automatically.
- Or insert the Vodafone Mobile Broadband data card in your computer and install it with the enclosed CD-ROM.
Step 2
We advise you to update the Vodafone Mobile Broadband connection software.
Step 3
Apart from the connection software update, you also have to update your device:
- You must identify your device to carry the correct update. How to know what model of USB modem you have?The name of the model (E220 in this example) and the number of the IMEI code (351827012869866 in this example) can be found on the original packaging and on the USB modem itself:
- Either on the back the USB modem.
- Or after removing the cover behind which you place the data SIM card.
An IMEI code is made of 15 digits. Compare the first 8 digits of this IMEI code with the 8 digits that you find below for each type of USB modem, and so identify your device.
